Sunday skincare philosophizing. When skincare meets makeup.

I have never been a fan of the BB or CC creams because either they are not right for my skin type, or not right for my skin tone. However, I was very excited when an interesting new product launched, primarily because of the brand. Philosophy is one of my favorite skincare brands, known for their high quality and innovative products. Their product line continues to be inspired by the sublime natural beauty of the deserts and highlands of Arizona.

The Renewed Hope in a Jar skin tint is described as a "whipped water gel" that offers an all-day hydration and healthy looking skin with a shine-free glow. This product is perfect for those no-makeup days where you don't feel like wearing foundation, but you still want to achieve a more even and healthy looking complexion. It comes in 5 different shades; I know its still not a wide ranging line, but it is definitely an improvement considering that most BB creams, CC creams or tinted moisturizers come mainly in only 3 shades (light, medium, dark). In this case, each shade has been "masterfully mixed to flex to a wide range of skin tones", as the product description on the Philosophy website claims.

This tinted moisturizer also contains SPF 20 which makes it even more appealing for the daily use. I need not stress how important it is to make SPF protection a principle part of our daily routines.

Another benefit of this product is that it has a buildable coverage. Meaning, whether you like to use sheer, medium to full coverage foundations, this tinted moisturizer has got you covered. I start by applying a dot on my forehead, chin, cheeks and nose, and then work it into the skin with my fingers, just as if applying moisturizer. I found that using the fingers works better as you are warming up the product so it blends seamlessly in the skin. You can repeat these steps until you find the desired coverage.

The end result is an all-day hydrated skin with a fresh, young look, even skin, and healthy glow. Once again Philosophy stays true to their catch phrase for the Renewed Hope in a Jar skin tint : it truly is"Skincare that acts like makeup."
